The purpose of this qualitative-descriptive work was to identify the operating invariants in the schemes activated by students during the theoretical application of the hydrolysis concept to peptide substances. This vergnaus discusses a research about the construction of the concepts of electric field, electric potential and related quantities, done by second year students of Mechanical Engineering at the Regional Santa Fe Faculty of the National Technological University.
These results agree with Vergnaud’s theory that states that a low level of conceptualization corresponds to lower levels of explicitation of operational invariants and their representations, camos predomination of procedural aspects over conceptually richer predicates.

The links would manifest themselves in the use of symbolic representations and in a partial explicitation of some meanings that would suggest the presence of some operational invariants students use to cope with situations and cocneptuales that require an acceptable scientific conceptualization. Taking into account the Theory of Conceptual Fields of Vergnaud, the cognitive activities involved by the students within a laboratory work using a simulation software are analyzed.
Results of a study on the acquisition of the field concept in physics by high school and college freshmen students, carried out under the framework of Vergnaud’s conceptual fields theory, are presented. The results will be useful for a didactic intervention to allow a meaningful conceptual development of the peptide hydrolysis concept considering the D category. Two representational categories, A and B, were first identified; afterwards B was maintained and two new categories, C and D, appeared; all the categories were related to non enzymatic hydrolysis.
