I guess the method to Chernev’s madness is that by the time you’ve completed bby book, the ideas repeatedly bashed into your head are ingrained there forever. It doesn’t have the whizzy graphics for the 3D touch screen high definition generation. I read Logical Chess prior to these tactics books and did not see such tactical improvements in my game.

Openings and endings 2 years ago. Movf units on the second board often get pushed out-of-sorts when a chsrnev mind debates the various possibilities that could have been played instead. Because there are few books aimed at beginners, but which will still entertain you as you get stronger. Mark all topics as READ. I say that as a beginner myself. Most of these older books have PGN collections of the games and positions available online if you look around a bit. Chesd little or no value in reading a chess book that is too difficult to comprehend.
A really enjoyable chess book. I love this book. It teaches fundamentals of openings and middlegames in a way that few other books can.

Chernev describes games one move at a time with some humor and thought. Chernev’s Logical Chess is a really good book. Logical Chess was originally printed in descriptive notation and reprinted in algebraic notation. It really is a good book with fun games. In fact, many would suggest using two chessboards when conducting a self-study: It’s an excellent book, I recommend it highly.
