Reading Julius Caesar next! This was my first true foray in Classical Greek literature D. Too long you looked on the ones you never should have seen, blind to the ones you longed to see, to know! There were also notes about each play with a little bit of background information and notes and thoughts from other writers.

I enjoyed it, though it was a tragedy. Worth a second read through when you’re old enough to appreciate them. It’s essential general culture; it is the foundation of western civilization as much as the Bible is; but unlike the Bible, the writing is beautiful and it’s incredibly accessible. Not yet am I sofcles misguided as to desire other honors than those which profit.

I can’t think of anything new to add to the year old discussion of these plays. I liked the plays when I first read them in high school, rragedias I got a lot more out of them on the second read once I’d grown up a bit.
